# Methodology — how we rate firms

## Where do listings come from?

Curated commercial listings are firms we have reviewed editorially, including paid listing tiers and referral partners. Companies House register imports show factual register data (incorporation date, address, filing status, company number) as of the stated snapshot. Register-imported firms start unrated, with no invented fees. Inclusion from the register is free and does not imply a commercial relationship.

## How do ratings work?

A rating combines published review scores (with count and source) and editorial assessment. Where we have no reliable review data, the firm shows "Not yet rated" — we never invent a score. No firm can pay to obtain, raise, protect, or suppress a rating. We do not write or commission reviews.

## How do rankings and matching work?

Directory default order sorts by review score; users can re-sort by price. The comparison wizard scores service overlap, location, budget, qualifications, and reviews. Paid tiers buy labelled visibility only and never change a rating or overrule poor service fit.

## How do we make money?

Optional paid listing tiers, referral partnerships, and pay-per-lead fees paid by firms. Comparison is free for businesses. Paid status is disclosed on profiles and cards.

## Who is this not for?

Skip this site if you need a statutory auditor for a large group, live HMRC enquiry counsel, or a firm outside the UK.
